Ratul Biswas
Head of Editorial, Learning
As Head of Editorial for the Learning division at Newgen, the role involves overseeing editorial operations and managing team capacity across ELT and Education workflows. The work combines strategic planning with practical execution, from optimising resources and building reliable freelance networks to ensuring digital and print learning services meet high standards of quality, pedagogy, and efficiency.
What makes the role particularly engaging is the opportunity to be both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor, working with instructional design frameworks, authoring tools such as Avallain, CAPE, and Learnosity, and customised curricula for global markets across the US, Asia, and the Middle East.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Newgen has been its collaborative and solution-driven culture. With teams and projects spanning different regions, there is a strong spirit of mutual support, openness to new ideas, and adaptability.
A particularly memorable milestone was the first project at Newgen, which was taken over midway and presented several challenges. Through close collaboration and focused execution, the project was delivered on time and to a high standard, followed by positive client feedback that specifically recognised the project management. The experience proved invaluable and helped shape a stronger approach to future project planning and capacity management.
Looking ahead, the ambition is to contribute to the strategic growth of Newgen’s upstream content creation capabilities across ELT and Education. By bringing editorial and design functions closer together, the aim is to scale digital-first learning capabilities, expand into new global markets, and build integrated content services that set new benchmarks for the publishing industry.
Beyond work, maintaining balance is equally important. Since working from home can make it difficult to switch off, playing badminton or attending a Zumba session has become a refreshing way to step away from the screen, recharge, and return with renewed energy.
